No points for Force India at Canadian GP

June 11, 2012 14:30 IST

Troubled by high tyre degradation, Sahara Force India returned empty-handed from the Canadian Grand Prix with Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg finishing 11th and 12th respectively.

Di Resta, who started eighth on the grid, was running as high as fifth initially but his speed was compromised when he switched to super soft tyres.

Paul di RestaThe tyres wore down quite swiftly, prompting the Scot to go to the pit lane a bit early.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton won the race as the highly unpredictable season, threw seventh different winner in as many races so far. Hamilton was joined on the podium by second-placed Romain Grosjean of Lotus and Sergio Perez of Sauber.

India's Narain Karthikeyan could not finish the race due to technical problems in the car.

"To qualify eighth and run as high as fifth shows we were well placed and things were running smoothly for the first few laps. Then I seemed to suffer with some high tyre degradation on the super-softs so we pitted quite early, but on the soft tyres we just didn't have the performance to race the cars around us and we slipped back," Di Resta said.

Nico Hulkenberg too was disappointed with the missed opportunity.

"We didn't have enough speed today and suffered with high tyre wear compared to the cars around us. We had to do a two-stop strategy while a lot of our rivals were able to stop once and they got a big benefit from that," he said.
