The FIFA U-17 World Cup Trophy was introduced to a slew of football fans in Kochi on Friday.

Varied cultural events, featuring the traditional art forms of Kerala, were on show at the unveiling ceremony in the football-crazy state of Kerala.

The Sports Minister of Kerala, A C Moideen unveiled the trophy at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium complex enabling thousands of fans to see the Official Winners' Trophy in person and pose for photos and selfies with it.

A publicity campaign is being organised throughout sports clubs, schools and colleges by the state department to ensure success of the U-17 World Cup in Kerala, the Minister told reporters after unveiling the trophy.

The Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium will host eight matches this October that will feature football powerhouses Brazil, Spain and Germany among others.
