Euro 2016: Team of the Tournament revealed; Bale misses out

French forward and tournament top scorer Antoine Griezmann was named as the best player of Euro 2016.

The Euro 2016 has come to an end with Portugal defeating hosts France on Sunday to lift their biggest football title. UEFA, the organising body of European Championships has now revealed the Team of the Tournament for Euro 2016.

Four Portugal players, three Germans and two each from France and Wales have made this team, which is selected by a 13-strong panel of technical observers also including legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio, Raphael Guerreiro, defender Pepe and ace forward Cristiano Ronaldo are the four players from the victorious Portugal side.

Ronaldo, who has played most number of four editions (2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016), was also in the All-Time Euro 11 named before the 2016 tournament.

Young defender Joshua Kimmich, star players Toni Kroos and Jerome Boateng are the Germans making the tournament side.

Tournaments' top goal scorer Antoine Griezmann (6) and Dimitri Payet represented France.

Surprisingly star Wales forward Gareth Bale did not find a place with the last two spots occupied by his teammates Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen.

The team (4-2-3-1): Rui Patricio (Portugal); Joshua Kimmich (Germany), Jerome Boateng (Germany), Pepe (Portugal), Raphael Guerreiro (Portugal); Toni Kroos (Germany), Joe Allen (Wales); Antoine Griezmann (France), Aaron Ramsey (Wales), Dimitri Payet (France); Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal).
