Khedira to move to United in 200K pounds-a-week deal?

April 06, 2015 14:05 IST

Germany's defensive midfielder Sami Khedira has been offered to Manchester United at 2,00,000 pounds-a-week by Real Madrid, as he will be out of contract in the summer and the top Premier League clubs have been alerted about the same.

Sami Khedira of Real MadridUnited is among the top Premier League clubs who have been informed of the Khedira situation. The Old Trafford outfit is seeking a player for that role and their original target, Roma's Dutchman Kevin Strootman, is still plagued by knee trouble.

If United sign Khedira he would be the club's first senior German player, The Daily Star reported.

However, United boss Louis van Gaal is also chasing Khedira's international teammate and Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels.

United, though, could face competition from Chelsea, whose boss Jose Mourinho managed Khedira at Real and Arsenal and Liverpool could also show strong interest.

Khedira, who has had his own injury issues, missed the World Cup Final last year when he was hurt in the pre-match warm-up, which was after he scored in the semifinal as Germany sensationally humiliated hosts Brazil 7-1.

Khedira is now ready to quit Real and fancies the Premier League, but he could also be offered a return to the Bundesliga by Wolfsburg, the report added.
