I-League and Federation Cup champions Salgaocar began their campaign in the Durand Cup football tournament with a solitary goal win over Border Security Force in Delhi on Friday.
Salgaocar, fresh from their Federation Cup triumph last month, dominated the proceedings but failed to score till Chidi Edeh found the match-winner in the 75th minute of the quarter-final league match.
In another quarter-final, at the Ambedkar Stadium, United Sikkim blanked Indian Air Force 3-0.
Former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia scored in the 89th minute after John Babatunde (45th) and Sushil Kumar Singh (88th) put United Sikkim ahead.
