Highlights:
It was yet another golden day for the shooters at the Commonwealth Games, on Tuesday. Samaresh Jung was the man to watch, as he added a fourth gold medal to his amazing tally. With a gold medal in men's 50m Air Pistol, he now has four gold and one silver.
Also striking gold was Gagan Narang, who upstaged the better-known Abhinav Bindra, who was pushed to bronze in the men's 10 metres Air Rifle. For Narang, it was the third gold medal.
Jung's march continued unabated as he took his fourth gold medal, with a commanding performance, topping the qualification and the final rounds in the men's 50m Air Pistol individual. He shot 554 out of 600 in qualifiers and then added a 96.2 in the final take the gold medal.
Narang got off to a great start with four rounds of perfect scores and then built on for a total of 597 in the qualifiers that set the tone for him in the Men's 10m Air Rifle. He then added a further 101.9 in the final, to take the gold by a comfortable tow-point margin.
It was Gagan Narang's third gold of the Games, following his gold medal in men's 10m Air Pistol Pairs and 50m Rifle 3-position. His total of 698.9 was a new Games record and his 597 in qualification was also a new record.
His teammate in the two Pairs events Bindra picked the bronze medal with a score of 594 and then 101.5 in the final for a total of 695.5.
Seema Antil, participating in her first Commonwealth Games, hurled the discus to 60.56m on her second throw to finish second behind South Africa's Elizna Naude, who touched 61.55m.
Two other Indians also finished in top eight, as Krishna Poonia (58.65m) and Harwant Kaur (57.64m) were fifth and seventh respectively.
Two boxers entered the semi-finals, which ensured they would get at least a bronze medal. They were Harpreet Singh in 91 kg and Veghese Johnson in over 91 kg category.
Teenager Saina Nehwal made a confident start in the women's singles in badminton with a straight games win.
