Indian challenge ends in qualifying

The Indian challenge ended in the qualifying event of the Chennai Open ATP tournament on Saturday with all the four contenders biting the dust.

Sriram Balaji Naryaswamy was the lone Indian to put up a fight, taking the first set to a tie-break before losing to Philipp Petzchner of Germany 6-7, 3-6.

The other three Indians -- Vishal Punna, Ravishankar Pathanjali and Ashutosh Singh -- were eliminated in straight sets.

Stephen Amritraj, son of former Indian Davis Cupper Anand Amritraj, lost to Michal Mortinak of Slovakia 3-6, 3-6.
