Jordan striker Ahmad Hayel has been ruled out of Friday's Asian Cup match against Palestine in Melbourne after a "cancelled" doping test, the team said on Wednesday.

"Up until now, he will not play (against Palestine)."

Jordan lost their opening match of the tournament against Group D rivals Iraq on Monday in Brisbane. They will also face Japan in the group stage.

The spokesman said Hayel had been taken to a room for a doping test but that he "... felt dizzy and started to lose energy.

"He came to us with a bad situation."

It was unclear where and when Hayel was to have been tested.

The team spokesman said he would issue a statement later on Wednesday to clarify.

Tournament organisers were unable to provide immediate comment when contacted by Reuters.
