Brazil soccer legend Carlos Alberto dies aged 72

Brazil’s World Cup-winning captain Carlos Alberto died in Rio de Janeiro following a heart attack on Tuesday. He was 72.

Carlos Alberto He played 53 games for Brazil and led them to the 1970 World Cup victory after scoring arguably the greatest goals in World Cup football history.

In that final against Italy, Alberto finished off a superb team effort with a powerful drive low into the net.

A right-back, Alberto won many domestic titles with Fluminense and Santos and he also played of New York cosmos.
