Fresh from their triumph at Stuttgart Open, the Indo-Romanian  pair of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea entered the men's doubles quarter-finals of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle.

The second seeds defeated Czech-Ukrainian duo Luka Rosol and Sergiy Stakhovsky 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Rosol and Stakhovsky got off to a flying start, winning a couple of break points at the start to take the opening set 6-2.

The second set saw Bopanna-Mergea get the lone break point available. A couple of double faults at crucial junctures also did not help Rosol and Stakhovsky, helping their opponents take home the set 6-3 and push the match into the decider.

Bopanna-Mergea played sensibly to win the super tie-break 10-8.

The winning pair will next face Croatia's Marin Draganja and Finland's Henri Kontinen in quarters who earlier beat Alexander Zverev and Mischa Zverev 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
