Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna and his partner Jeff Coetzee crashed out of the $531,100 ATP SAP Open after suffering a straight-set defeat in the first round in San Jose.

The unseeded Indo-South African pair lost 1-6, 4-6 to the Australian duo of Carsten Ball and Stephen Huss on Wednesday.

The Indian did not get any ranking point and had to be content with $1400 after splitting the prize money with his South African partner.

Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Asiam-ul-Haq Qureshi had won their maiden ATP title together last week in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, Prakash Amritraj and his American partner Brendon Evans were ousted from the Italy Challenger event after losing the quarter-final to third seeds Daniele Bracciali of Italy and Jonathan Erlich of Israel.

The Indo-American pair lost 0-6, 6-7 (3) in the last-eight stage of the euro 425,000 event.

Amritraj and Evans got 17 ranking points each and split euro 540 between them for making the quarter-finals.

Amritraj had exited from the singles competition after losing to local wild card Marco Crugnola in the first round.
