Anand Pawar bows out of Indonesian Open

Promising Indian shuttler Anand Pawar failed to make the main draw of the Indonesian Open badminton tournament after a straight games loss to

Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark in the qualifying opener of the Super Series event in Jakarta.

Pawar, who won the Portuguese International championship in March, lost 17-21, 18-21 in 30 minutes.

In other men's singles qualifiers, ace shuttler Anup Sridhar will lock horns with 16th ranked Joachim Persson of Denmark, while Arvind Bhat will clash with local lad Alamsyah on Wednesday.

Saina Nehwal, who has qualified for the Beijing Olympics, will take on local favourite Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari in the women's singles and then team with Anna Rice of Canada against the Russian duo Ekaterina Ananina and Anastasia Russkikh, also on Wednesday.
