Chetan in India Open Grand Prix final

India's Chetan Anand scored an easy straight-game victory over Andrew Smith of England to cruise into men's singles final of Yonex Sunrise India Open Grand Prix badminton tournament in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The unseeded Indian did short work of his English opponent 21-16 21-9 in the semi-final to set up a summit clash against Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand on Sunday.

Fifth-seeded Ponsana came back from one game down to beat Sho Sasaki of Japan 19-21, 21-14, 21-15 in the other semi-final match.

In women's singles, second seed Lan Lu of China defeated third seed compatriot Lin Zhu of China 17-21, 21-7, 21-10 to set a final date against sixth seed Mi Zhou of Hong Kong who beat Eriko Hirose of Japan 18-21, 21-12, 21-12 in the semi-final.

In men's doubles semi-final, unseeded Choon Eng Chew and Chong Ming Chan of Malaysia upset the second seeded combine of Chandra Wijaya of Indonesia and Tony Gunawan of United States 21-18 9-21 21-19.

Women's Singles: Mi Zhou (HKG) bt Eriko Hirose (JPN) 18-21, 21-12, 21-12; Lan Lu (CHN) bt Lin Zhu (CHN) 17-21, 21-7, 21-10.

Men's Doubles: Choon Eng Chew and Chong Ming Chan (MAS) bt Chandra Wijaya (INA) and Tony Gunawan (USA) 21-18 9-21 21-19

Women's Doubles: Yu Chin Chien and Wen Hsing Cheng (TPE) bt Shinta Mulia Sari and Lei Yao (SIN) 21-13, 21-17; Miyuki Maeda and Satoko Suetsuna (JAP) bt Kamila Augustyn and Nadieza Kostiuczyk (POL) 21-18, 21-17.

Mixed Doubles: Hanbin He and Yang Yu (CH) bt Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk (POL) 21-14, 21-19; Kristof Hopp and Birgit Overzier (GER) bt Chich  Min Fang and Wen Hsing Cheng (TPE) 21-19, 22-20.
