Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal, who regained the number one spot in international rankings, said it was a big achievement for her.

"No.1 rank is something which is still unbelievable. It is a big achievement. I hope to stay there for some more time and staying injury free which is very important right now," said Nehwal.

"It will be tough maintaining the number one ranking, but people should respect that I have been the first one to reach number one slot," Saina told PTI in an interview.

"If everything falls well in line and if I train well, then I am sure I can maintain it for a long time but it is not going to be easy I have to work very very hard. I have to keep in mind everyday I am world number one and have to work as world number one. I will try my best to win as many titles for my country," she said.

She also made her joy known to her fans on Twitter.

“World number 1 again :) so happy”, she tweeted.

Nehwal regained the number one position in international rankings after China's Li Xuerui dropped to the third position in a list issued on Thursday.

Nehwal is the first Indian woman to have gained the world number one spot in badminton . Earlier this month, she had lifted the singles crown of the India Open Super Series Badminton tournament.
