June 24, 2006 20:35 IST

Pakistan overcame South Korea 4-1 to finish fifth in the 15th Sultan Azlan Shah eight-nation hockey tournament, in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Pakistan, who led 2-1 at the break, found their scorers in Shakeel Abbasi (15th minute), Mohammad Saqlain (23rd), Akhtar Ali (46th) and Waqas Sharif (64th).

Kang Seong Jung (42nd) was the lone scorer for Korea.

The Pakistanis, who thus avenged their World Cup qualifying tournament defeat, suffered a setback when their star forward Mudassar Ali Khan sustained a knee injury following a collision with Korean goalkeeper.

Earlier, Argentina bounced back from 0-2 down to post a 3-2 victory over Malaysia and finish seventh.

The decision came in the extra-time that was applied to break a 2-2 deadlock.

Malaysia surged ahead on goals from Chua Boon Huat (20th minute) and Muhammad Razie (27th), but Argentina came up with a strong response through Matias Paredes (31st), Mario Almada (49th) and Innocent Argento (79th).
