Former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek has served up a dilemma for the ATP after deciding to take on the tournament director's role at next year's World Indoor Tournament.

The Dutchman has not ruled out playing on the tour in 2004 but he could infringe ATP rules if he does.

"I definitely won't play here (in Rotterdam) next year but I would like to play maybe in a couple of other tournaments if possible," said Krajicek, who won at Rotterdam in 1995 and 1997.

"I will have to check the ATP guidelines and if it says I can't play anymore then I won't."

The ATP said that if Krajicek decided to combine the two roles in 2004, the move would not be unprecedented but would have to be approved by the officiating committee.

At the 1996 Marbella tournament, Emilio Sanchez entered the draw despite being the tournament's co-director with fellow Spaniard Sergio Casal.

On Tuesday, Krajicek began his Rotterdam campaign with a 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 win over Spain's Tommy Robredo on Tuesday.
