China's Li Ping set world marks in both the snatch and the combined total on her way to winning gold in the women's 53-kg weightlifting at the Asian Games on Sunday.
Li lifted 103kg early in the competition to break the world mark of 102kg set by Ri Song-hui of North Korea at the Busan 2002 Asian Games then, spurred on by the crowd, lifted 123kg in the clean and jerk to equal the record for the combined total.
She then smashed the combined mark by four kgs, with 127kg on her next lift. Compatriot Qiu Hongxia had held the record since 2006, with 226 kg.
"I want to break these records as soon as possible and I don't want to have to wait until the 2012 Olympic Games," Li said.
Li's triumph gave China four golds from four weightlifting titles at the competition so far. Another 11 titles remain to be contested.
