Indian women spikers crash out of Asian Games

Indian women spikers suffered their third successive defeat in the Asian Games, going down 0-3 to Chinese Taipei in their last preliminary Group B match at the Guangwai Gymnasium in Guangzhou on Monday.

The Indian eves lost 36-75 (12-25, 12-25, 12-25) to the Taiwanese team in one hour and four minutes to draw curtains on their campaign.

Soumya Vengadan was the best scorer for India with six points, while Chen Wan-Ting was the highest scorer for Chinese Taipei with 15 points to her name.

India won only one match in their preliminary round, winning against Maldives on Friday. They lost against North Korea, Japan and Kazakhstan.

The men's team also crashed out of the Asian Games on Sunday.
