Asian Games: India's campaign ends in men's singles badminton

India's campaign ended in the men's singles badminton competition after Arvind Bhatt crashed out in the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian Games in Guangzhou on Thursday.

Bhatt lost 19-21 12-21 to world ranked sixth Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in his second round encounter at the Tianhe Gymnasium.

With Bhatt's loss, India cut a sorry figure in the men's singles event as Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Parupalli Kashyap had earlier made a first round exit, losing to 14-21 20-22 to sixth seed Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam. 

Bhatt had got a walk over in his opening round against Niluka Karunaratne of Sri Lanka.
