India's top shuttlers Chetan Anand and Arvind Bhat advanced to the quarter-finals of the Macau Open Grand Prix with straight-game victories in China on Thursday.

Seventh seed Chetan beat Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark 21-15, 21-15 in 30 minutes, while 10th seed Arvind went past another Dane, eight seeded Jan O Jorgensen, winning 21-13, 22-20 in 33 minutes.

Chetan next faces the winner of the third round match between Huan Gao and world No 1 Lee Chong Wei, while Arvind will lock horns with fourth seed Malaysian Choong Hann Wong, who spanked Chinese Taipei's Hsuan Yi Hsueh 21-13, 21-9.

Chetan had an easy outing, opening up a 3-0 lead in the first game. But Vittinghus clawed his way back to restore parity at 8-8 and then 12-12 before the Indian broke loose to pocket the game.

Chetan went for the kill right for the start of the second game and did not give his opponent any chance to come back into the match.

Arvind, however, had to break sweat to get past his Danish opponent.

The world No 24 Indian made a smart recovery after being 8-9 and reeled off four straight points to grab the lead at 12-9 before winning the first game.

The second game was a see-saw battle as both players fought tooth and nail. After moving together from 6-6 to 20-20, it was the Indian who held his nerve to have the last laugh.
