Dempo Sports Club was handed a humiliating 0-9 thrashing by Uzbekistan's Nasaf FC in their AFC Cup encounter in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
The result of the match is Dempo's worst ever in all competitions, and the heaviest in AFC Cup history.
Depleted due to the absence of two of their foreign players, Brazilian midfielder Beto (injured) and Iranian defender Siavash Samienia (suspended) and goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani, through injury, Dempo conceded a goal as early as the 12th minute, when Ivan Boskovic found the net.
Boskovic went on to score three more times, Artur Gevorkyan twice, and Andrejs Pereplotkins, Ilkhom Shomuradov and Shuhrat Mirholdirshaev once each, at the Karshi Central Stadium, to seal the team's place in the knock-out stage.
Nasaf have 12 points from four games, six more than Lebanon's Al Ansar and nine ahead of Dempo and Al Tilal (Yemen).
In the 2006 edition of the competition, Jordan's Al Wehdat thrashed Bangladesh's Mohammedan 7-0, and Malaysian side Kedah outclassed Hanoi ABC (Vietnam) by the same scoreline in the 2009 edition.
Kuwait Sports Club downed India's Churchill Brothers 7-1 in 2010 while Vietnam's Binh Duong sidelined Kedah 8-2 in the Round of 16 a year earlier.
