Legends - Pelé Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé, is arguably the finest soccer player ever. He exemplified passion and artistry and till date, remains the poster child of Brazilian soccer. Pelé was a complete player. He had defenders in a trance with his ball control, dribbling and finishing. He was blessed with silken skills and mesmerized millions with his style. He was the chief architect in Brazil lifting the World Cup in 1958, 1962 and 1970, a record for an individual player. A prolific scorer, he served Santos loyally and notched over 1,000 goals. He retired in 1977 but continues to be the most recognizable face in soccer. |
