Mohammed Siddique in Hyderabad
July 10, 2009 10:41 IST

Tennis sensation Sania Mirza [Images], surrounded by tight security after two lovelorn youth attempting to barge in to her house to "marry her" will exchange the engagement ring with a family friend Sohrab Mirza at a glittering ceremony at 8-30 pm on Friday.

Sohrab will be offering a Rs 10 lakh worth diamond ring and other jewelry to Sania, the family sources said. This will be in addition to 11 different dresses, including a traditional "Hyderabadi Lacha" in pink and golden color the groom's family will bring.

The ceremony, to be attended by 300 close relatives and family friends from both the sides will be held at a five star hotel amid elaborate security arrangements by the police.

"Only the invited guests carrying the individual credit cards will be allowed to enter", a senior official said.

Hectic activity at "Mirzas", the residence of Sania in Banjara Hills reached its peak as this was the first big ceremony in the family.

Similar activity was witnessed at the groom Sohrab Mirza's residence in Anand Nagar area on the opposite side of Banjara Hills.

"Main Baahut Khush Hoon- I am very happy", Sohrab told the media in his brief interaction even as he ran around for the last minute shopping for the big occasion in his life.

He was unfazed by all that hullabaloo over cupid-stricken youngsters rushing to Sania's house to express their love over the last two days. "I have a lot of work to do, I cant say anything more", he said.

Sohrab Mirza, who will be soon going to London [Images] to pursue MBA, is the son of Adil Mirza, owner of a bakery chain in the city.

The family is of Iranian origin and Sohrab's mother Nooran is the sister of Shadan, wife of former legislator Vizarat Rasool Khan.

Few details were available as far as the bridal-dress and other preparations were concerned. Five dresses for Sania  ncluding the Lacha were designed by Ada and remaing were from different designers.

Sania's family on the other hand has a Manish Malhotra [Images] designed dress for the star but the family members were tight lipped on how much it has cost.

Even as hordes of media crews will be gathering at the venue of the ceremony to shoot, the paparazzi is unlikely to be welcomed.

Speculations are doing round that the family had given the exclusive rights of live telecast of the evening for a whopping Rs 2 crore. But same could not be confirmed.
