The International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Friday announced that India will host the 2010 hockey World Cup.
After the FIH board meeting in Hyderabad on Friday, a decision was made that the 2010 World Cup will be held in New Delhi.
Incidentally, FIH had provisionally awarded the 2010 World Cup to New Delhi, but after India's failure to qualify for the Beijing [Images] Olympics [Images], the confirmation was kept on hold. The FIH made it clear that till satisfactory progress was not made in FIH-involved development projects in the country, the rights to hold the World Cup would not be cleared.
