Breaking his silence after being sacked as the IHF President, K P S Gill on Wednesday said he would watch the activities of the IOA's ad-hoc committee with "greater interest".

IHF suspended

"I will watch their activities with greater interest," Gill told PTI in his first reaction since the IHF was suspended by the IOA on Monday on charges of corruption.

Gill's 14-year tenure as the hockey boss came to an unceremonious end when the Indian Olympic Association sacked him by suspending the IHF and appointing an ad-hoc committee in its place.

The "unanimous" decision to suspend IHF was taken at an emergency meeting of the IOA Executive Committee held here following a sting operation which caught secretary K Jothikumaran purportedly accepting bribe to select a player in the national team.

Reading out a resolution of the Executive Committee, which was approved by the heads of various national federations, Kalmadi said the ad-hoc committee will take over IHF till further arrangements were made.

"The Executive Committee of the IOA today suspended the IHF and an ad-hoc committee will take over its affairs till further arrangements are made. It was a unanimous decision, nobody opposed it," Kalmadi told a crowded press conference.

The IOA also formed a new selection committee headed by Aslam Sher Khan and comprising Dhanraj Pillay, Ajit Pal Singh, Ashok Kumar and Zafar Iqbal.
