Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi were beaten in the final of the $150,000 Malaysian Open ATP Challenger tournament in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
The Indo-Pakistani duo lost to the top seeded Australian-South African pair of Stephen Huss and Wesley Moodie 7-6(10), 6-3.
Moodie and Huss, who made history by becoming the first qualifiers to win the Wimbledon doubles title in 2005, proved too strong for the Indo-Pakistan combination. They collected US $9,300 while the losers got US $5,400.
Former world No 5 Rainer Schuettler struck old form and beat unseeded Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 in the singles final.
With this win, Schuettler, a losing finalist to Andre Agassi [Images] in the 2003 Australian Open, received US $21,800 while Stakhovsky collected US $12,720 in the US $150,000 tournament which attracted 32 players ranked below 100 on the ATP ranking.
