Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen retired from Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix after 10 laps, dashing his hopes of taking the Formula One championship lead in the fourth round of the season. Raikkonen, winner of the Australian season-opener on his Ferrari debut in March, was level on 22 points with McLaren's double world champion Fernando Alonso and British rookie Lewis Hamilton before the race.
Raikkonen was in third place when he suddenly slowed, allowing Spaniard Alonso past. The Finn nursed his car back to the pits and climbed out.
Ferrari team mate Felipe Massa was leading after starting on pole position, with McLaren's Hamilton second and on course for his fourth podium finish in just four starts.
