India beat Belgium 3-1 to register their second victory in as many matches and move into the second round of the Youth Volleyball World Championship in Mexico.

India defeated the European team 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 in a one-hour 46 minutes encounter on Thursday.

Earlier, India blanked Tunisia 25-0, 25-0, 25-0 in their opening match.

Indian captain Mandeep Singh, who was the highest scorer for the team with 30 points, said their strategy paid off in the Group 'A' match against Belgium.

"We prepared our strategy very well. Our team has been training and playing together for the last three months and we did an excellent job," he said.

Head coach Bir Singh Yadav said good serving was the key to India's success.

"We had seen Belgium playing against Mexico and we knew we had to serve strong to stop them from having a good reception. Our serves worked well and because of that we had a better chance to block their tall players.

"I hope Mandeep keeps playing like this during the rest of the tournament. He is very important for us," Yadav said.

India face hosts Mexico in their next match.
