Pakistan defeated archrivals India 2-1 in the third and final match to win Indian leg of the six-match home-and-away hockey series 3-0 in Jalandhar on Monday.

The victory earned them the Airtel Trophy.

In a fast-paced match at the Surjit Singh hockey stadium, Pakistan opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Tariq Aziz.

Tejbir Singh restored parity for India in the 26th minute, but skipper Mohammed Saqlain's goal four minutes later clinched the issue for the visitors.

The next three matches of the series will be played in Pakistan.
