Briton Jenson Button [Images] will not drive a Formula One car again this year after his Honda team ruled him out of this week's final test in southern Spain because of a rib injury. Button suffered two hairline cracks to his ribs while go-karting last month and has not taken part in the two post-season tests so far.
"We have been monitoring Jenson's rib injury over the last few weeks and are delighted to say that it is healing very well," said a spokeswoman on Monday.
"To ensure the healing process continues unabated we have taken the decision that Jenson will not drive at this week's test in Jerez.
"He will however attend the test to take part in the engineering meetings and to continue to stay fully up to date with our winter development programme."
Button, 26, won the Hungarian Grand Prix in August -- his first Formula One win after 113 starts.
