Button puts BAR on pole in Canada

Briton Jenson Button [Images] put BAR on pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix [Images] on Saturday with Ferrari's [Images] Michael Schumacher [Images] alongside him.

The front row for Sunday's race had an unfamiliar look to it, with Button's 1:15.217 lap providing a major boost for a Honda-powered team without a point so far this season after serving a two-race suspension.

Schumacher's grid position was his best since Bahrain in April and, even if fuel loads remained unknown, revived Ferrari's hopes of a first win of the championship to end an eight-race losing streak.

Renault's championship leader Fernando Alonso [Images] was third, alongside Italian team mate Giancarlo Fisichella.

McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen [Images], second in the standings but 32 points adrift of Spaniard Alonso, will start in seventh position with his Colombian team mate Juan Pablo Montoya [Images] fifth.
