Beckham's Golden Boots
The boots that really put Beckham on the map. Before the game against Wimbledon at Selhurst Park on the opening day of the 1996-97 Premiership season, David asked adidas if he could borrow a pair of Predator boots as he had heard positive comments about them from other players.
The only boots available in Beckham's size, 8, had Charlie embroidered onto the tongue, as they had been manufactured for Charlie Miller of Rangers. Having the wrong name on the tongue posed no problems to David, though. He promptly lobbed Wimbledon keeper Neil Sullivan from inside his own half to score one of the goals of the season. Within weeks, he made his England debut against Moldova.
