World Swimming Championships
Ian Thorpe of Australia celebrates after winning gold in the men's 200 metres freestyle final. He had a tough battle with Pieter Van Den Hoogenband of Holland in the final.
"It was an average time, but I'm happy with the result. I was aware of where Pieter van den Hoogenband was the whole time but I wanted to concentrate on my own swim and not worry about where he was," said the champion, who is also known as 'Thorpedo'.
