The United States won the men's 4x100 metres relay at the World Athletics Championships in Paris on Sunday.

The quartet of John Capel, Bernard Williams, Darvis Patton and Joshua Johnson timed 38.06 seconds, finishing ahead of Great Britain.

In a thrilling race, it was Britain who led for a major part of the race and after the last exchange, but American anchorman Johnson came up with an extraordinary burst down the straight to beat Dwain Chambers on the line.

Britain clocked 38.08 seconds.

Brazil claimed the bronze, finishing in 38.26 seconds.
