Andy Roddick reached the third round with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 win over Ivan Ljubicic.
"I think I deserve a beer after that one. I let him back in in the second set, then he started to play great tennis and I was in a battle," said the fourth seed American, who celebrated his 21st birthday, the legal drinking age in New York.
Ljubicic was not so gung-ho. "I don't like him," the Croatian said. "Nobody in the locker room likes his
acting on court... Nobody acts that way. He's the only one."
