Tom Pappas celebrates after winning the gold in the men's decathlon at the 9th IAAF World Athletics Championship in Paris on Wednesday.
The American won the event with a total of 8750 points. Defending champion and world record holder Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic finished second with 8634 points. Dmitry Karpov of Kazakhstan was third with 8374 points.
