Protein supplement for sports persons launched

Our Correspondent in Mumbai

Former India wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani unveiled 'Coach's Formula', a protein supplement for sports persons and fitness enthusiasts, in Mumbai on Friday.

Speaking on the launch, Kirmani said, "In our days we did not know what protein was? What nutrition was? What was the importance of a physiotherapist? It is only now that so much importance is given to physical fitness in cricket. And I am sure 'Coach's Formula' will help the people to improve their fitness."

A Plethico Pharmaceuticals product, 'Coach's Formula' is endorsed by Kirmani and Kaizaad Kapadia, a fitness trainer for several prominent celebrities. It is the first product introduced by the Nutriscience Helathcare division of Plethico Pharmaceuticals Ltd. The company claims the supplement is the first of its kind in India.

"To stay afloat one has to be 100 per cent fit in sports and has to have a prescribed diet and nutrition. I feel 'Coach's Formula' will be a great help to athletes.

"A sportsman has to do regular exercise, but to remain completely fit one has to eat a nutritious diet too," said Kirmaini.

Kapadia said, "This product was long overdue in our country; I was waiting for such a product. I think 'Coach's Formula' is the first Indian protein supplement that stands at par with the best protein supplements available internationally. I recommend protein to all my clients, preferably consumed 30 minutes before or after exercise."

A 200gm pack of 'Coach's Formula' is priced at Rs 299 in India. It is an upper protein which contains 'Whey', derived from milk, which has one of the highest biological values.

"It is a completely natural product," said Rajiv Bedi, vice-president, Plethico Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

"This is not a chemically synthesized product but a hundred per cent vegetarian, natural 'Whey protein supplement', enriched with 24 essential vitamins and minerals. It contains zero saturated fat, absolutely no cholesterol and is manufactured using cutting edge technology," he added.
