Gopichand, Popat for Dutch and Denmark Opens

Pulella Gopichand is among four men while Aparna Popat is the only woman selected to represent the country at the Dutch and Denmark Open badminton championships, to be held from October 22 to November 3.

The Badminton Association of India selection committee, which met on Tuesday, announced that Abhinn Shyam Gupta, Nikhil Kanetkar and Chetan Anand will be the other members of the men's team.

A statement from the BAI said Sachin Ratti will join the trio in the senior Asian championships, to be held in Bangkok from November 12 to 17.

In the women's section, Popat will be joined by B R Meenakshi for the two events.

The committee also named four boys and girls for the junior World championships, to be held in South Africa from October 25 to November 3.

The boys' team comprises Rohan Castelino, Nishad Dravid, Bahniman Bora and Anand Pawar while the girls' team comprises Krishna Deka Raja, Aditi Mutatkar, Aparna Balan and Dhanya Nair.

V Diju, Sanave Thomas, Arvind Bhat and Thomas Kurien and two women -- T Murgunde and C H Deepti -- have been picked in the Indian youth teams to participate in the Toulouse, Scottish and Welsh Open championships, to be held from November 14 to December 1.
