Mirza, Chakravarthi have it easy

Up-and-coming Hyderabad lass Sania Mirza and top seeded Rushmi Chakravarthi moved into the second round of the ITF women's tennis tournament, being played in Hyderabad, on Tuesday.

Mirza, fresh from her recent victories in South Africa, took 46 minutes to defeat Kim Ji Young of Korea 6-0, 6-2.

Chakravarthi, playing on the third court, demolished her Korean opponent Hee-Sun Layoo-Suh 6-2, 6-2 in 40 minutes.

Madhini Sharma lost to compatriot Ankita Bhambri 6-0, 6-0, while Sai Jayalakshmi beat Mi-Ran Shin of Korea 6-2, 6-2.

Speaking after her match, Mirza said was happy to play in her home town after a very long time.

"I was expecting a tough fight from the Korean girl, but she went down tamely," she added.
