Joshna Chinnappa retains title

Top seed and national women's champion Joshna Chinnappa of Tamil Nadu retained the girls' under-19 title in the National Junior and Sub-junior Squash championships at the India Cements Squash Academy courts in Chennai on Thursday evening.

In a lop-sided final, 16-year-old Joshna thrashed second seeded Radhika Kashyap of Madhya Pradesh 9-1, 9-3, 9-1 in just 15 minutes.

Radhika was hardly able to match the vintage stuff from the Lady Andal School student from Chennai. The Madhya Pradesh girl failed to cope with the experience of her famed rival, who did not drop a single game in the tournament.

Meanwhile, finalists were spotted in all the remaining nine categories in both the boys and girls' sections. But for the exit of second seed Naishad Lallwani of Maharashtra, who went down to his state-mate and third seed Manek Mathur in the boys's under-15 semi-final, it was smooth sailing for the top two seeds.

Top seed Saurav Ghosal of Tamil Nadu defeated Yashwardhan Singh of Delhi 9-3, 9-1, 9-3 to meet second seed Gaurav Nandrajog of Delhi in the boys' under-19 final.

Gaurav virtually had a stroll in the park as he blasted his way to a 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 win over Supreet Singh of Maharashtra to make it to the final.
