Gobind steals the show in swimming

Gobind and Ram Bhateri of Jind stole the show in swimming by clinching two golds each in their categories and thus became the star swimmers of the XVII Haryana Games being held in Chandigarh.

While Gobind struck golds in 400 mts individual medley for men and 100 mts free-style swimming competitions, Ram Bhateri got the golds in 50 mts butterfly and 50 mts free-style swimming.

Gobind of Jind, Sunil of Rohtak and Amarkant of Bhiwani got the three top positions respectively in 400 mts individual medley competition, while in women category, Monica of Rai, Abhilasha and Anuradha of Gurgaon got the first three positions.

In 50 mts breast stroke for men, Anil of Rohtak, Navin of Panipat and Praveen of Sirsa got the first three positions while in women section, Rashmi of Jind, Preeti of Rai and Seema of Kurukshetra struck the first three positions respectively.

In 100 mts free style, again Jind's Gobind got the first position while Gobind and Vinod of Hisar got the second and third positions.

In women section, Kirandeep of Panchkula, Ram Bhateri of Jind and Cheshtha of Rai got the first three positions respectively.

In men section of 50 mts butterfly, Amit Sharma of Gurgaon, Karmjit and Sundeep of Sirsa got the first three positions, while in women section, Rashmi of Jind , Monica of Rai and Amarjit Kaur of Sirsa got the top three positions respectively.

In 50 mts butterfly for men, Praveen and Vineet of Sirsa got the first and third positions while Amit of Gurgaon got the runner-up position. In women section, Ram Bhateri of Jind, Surabhi of Rai and Amarjeet Kaur of Sirsa got the first three positions.

In 50 free style for men, Vinod of Hisar, Harmarjit Singh of Sirsa and Amit Sharma of Gurgaon got the top positions respectively, while in women section, Ram Bhateri of Jind, Cheshtha of Rai and Amarjit Kaur of Sirsa got the first three positions respectively.

Jind , Hisar and Sirsa teams got the top three positions in men category in the 4 into 100 mts free style relay swimming competition, while Rai, Karnal and Sirsa women teams got the three positions respectively.

Kurukshetra team bagged the overall championship in cycling after Ms Sunheli Chug and Mohan Singh bagged the golds for the district team with Ragni and Devender Kaur in women and Saravjeet Singh in men sections helped the team score the trophy for them by securing runner-up positions.

Sunheli Chug was declared the Best Cyclist in the women section, Mohan Singh again of Kurukshetra was declared the Best Cyclist in men section. Chug was the first sportsperson of the state to clinch a gold in the cycle race.

Kurukshetra women cyclist team scored 27 points to get the championship leaving the Karnal team quite far away with merely 6 points to get the runner-up position.

In men section, the male cyclists of Kurukshetra got 18 points to get the first position while the Haryana Police got the runner up position with 14 points.

Chug pedalled her victory in the 30 kms road march competition and her team mates Ragni and Devender kaur also stood by her to get second and third positions helping her to get the championship.

In 70 kms road march of the men section, Devender Singh of Haryana Police got first position while Mohan Singh and Sarvajeet Singh, both of Kurukshetra got the second and third positions respectively.
