Bombay Customs beat Chandigarh XI

Bombay Customs got the better of Chandigarh XI 2-1 to move into the quarter-final league in the Aga Khan hockey tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana, in Mumbai, on Wednesday.

After a goalless first-half, it was Chandigarh who forged ahead when their forward Navdeep Singh scored off a Vikram Singh pass after Customs defender Ram Bahadur failed to clear the ball inside the circle.

However, two minutes later the local outfit equalised when Customs defender Abhijeet Shirsat scored after receiving a passs from Errol D'Silva.

With just eight minutes left for the final hooter, John Fernandes converted a penalty stroke after Chandigarh defender Mandeep Singh hooked Errol D'Silva's stick when the latter was poised to score.
