Chetan Anand shocks Abhinn for gold

Chetan Anand upset national champion Abhinn Shyam Gupta to win the men's singles title as Andhra Pradesh shuttlers swept all three medals at stake in the National Games badminton competition on Monday.

Anand beat Uttar Pradesh's Gupta 15-2, 15-11 in 33 minutes.

In an all-Andhra women's final, the experienced Neelima Choudary, silver medallist in the last edition in Punjab, rallied brilliantly from a game down to oust Jwala Gutta 8-11, 11-4, 11-7 in 45 minutes to win the gold.

Later, Jwala and Shruthi Kurien had to sweat it out for almost an hour against a fighting Archana and Manjusha Kanwar of Maharashtra before winning the doubles gold at 8-11, 13-10, 11-9

Andhra Pradesh had earlier won the men's and women's team championship gold medals.
