Bagan, Sporting draw goalless

Title holders East Bengal emerged sole leaders as Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting played out a goalless draw in an entertaining Kolkata Super League match on Thursday.

Mohammedan Sporting, who led the league table before the match by virtue of conceding fewer goals despite being at par with East Bengal on points, slipped to the second position.

Having played eight games, East Bengal have 22 points, two more than Mohammedan Sporting.

Bagan are on 16 points from the same number of matches as the other two big clubs.

The Sporting-Bagan floodlit encounter at the Salt Lake stadium produced entertaining fare, with the ball constantly travelling from one end to the other.

Sporting were distinctly unlucky in the 58th minute as the post came in the way of a Dipendu Biswas's header following a Abdul Latif Seriki floater, with Bagan custodian Bibas Ghosh comprehensively beaten.
