Anjali Bhagwat bags silver at World Cup finals

Number one-ranked Anjali Bhagwat won the silver medal in the 10-metre Air Rifle event at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup finals in Munich, Germnay, on Saturday.

The ace Indian shooter, who claimed four gold medals at the recent Manchester Commonwealth Games, shot 399 of a maximum 400 points in the preliminary rounds to qualify for the final. However, she could only shoot 102.6 points out of 109 in the final and was upstaged in the gold medal round by just 0.5 points, by Lioubov Galkina of Russia.

Later, she was invited by the ISSF to participate in the Champions Trophy, which is a shoot-out between the medal winners in the men's and women's sections. She came out best in a field of five men and five women to earn the title of 'Champion of champions'.

For her efforts, the Mumbai-based Central Industrial Security Force inspector was awarded the top prize of 2500 Euros.
