India Senior spikers triumph

India Seniors defeated Thailand 25-21, 25-16, 25-16 to claim the Sivanthi Adityan Volleyball Gold Cup and a cash prize of Rs 150,000 in the international tournament, which concluded in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Earlier, Myanmar beat Indian Colts in a gruelling encounter 16-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 17-15 to finish with six points and emerge richer by Rs 100,000. Indian Colts had to be content with Rs 50,000 for their third place finish.

The India Seniors won all their four matches in the five-day tourney and topped the points table with eight points while Myanmar, India Colts, Thailand won three, two, one matches respectively. Kazakhstan were winless.

Ravikant Reddy, Y Subba Rao and Tom Joseph excelled for the Indian spikers.
