Indian doubles ace Leander Paes and Michael Hill of Australia moved into the quarter-finals of the doubles competition at the Tennis Masters Series being held in Toronto, Canada on Thursday.

The unseeded duo upset the fifth seeded Czech pairing of Martin Damm and Cyril Suk 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-4 in a hard fought second round match.

They now face the top seeds Daniel Nestor of Bahama and Mark Knowles of Canada. Nestor/Knowles had no trouble against Czechs Radek Stepanek and Jiri Novak, walking away with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

But the third seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi went down to the unseeded pair of Ellis Ferreira of South Africa and Jeff Tarango of the United States 5-7, 5-7 in the second round.
