Then he retired.

"Mentally, I'm exhausted. I don't feel I have a challenge. Physically, I feel great. This is a perfect time for me to walk away from the game. I'm at peace with that," he had said then.

Now he's back. Older, wiser, firmly focused on the future and the competitive challenge ahead of him.
