Sania Mirza keeps winning run

Top seeded Indian junior Sania Mirza continued her good run in Egypt, entering the girls' singles quarter-finals at the grade-4 Smash tennis international junior world ranking championships in Cairo on Tuesday.

Last week she scored a grand double, winning the girls' singles and doubles titles at the Movenpick grade-3 international junior tennis tournament in Giza, Egypt.

At the ongoing Cairo tournament, Sania demolished Nanies El Assali of Egypt 6-0, 6-0 in her second round match. The hapless Egyptian girl appeared to be overawed by the power and accuracy of the top-seeded Indian and surrendered meekly.

Nanies also lost in the first round of the last week's event at Giza.

The Hyderabad-based girl, after last week's triumph, is now ranked 48th in the world. She is the youngest player on the ITF rankings to figure in the top-50 at the age of 14.

Ever since Sania appeared inside the top-400 on the world junior rankings as a 13-year-old, about 18 months back, she has made steady progress, not allowing anybody younger than her to be ranked above her.
