Indian challenge at German Open ends

The Indian challenge in the Yonex German Open at Duisberg ended with Siddharth Jain losing to German No. 1 Oliver Ponggratx 15-8, 6-15, 9-15 in the quarter-finals.

Earlier, Siddharth beat Belgian No. 1 Rund Kuiten when the latter conceded the match with Siddharth up 12-5 in the first game.

Abhin Shyam Gupta, the other Indian left in the fray, lost in the pre-quarters to Chen Yu of China 11-15, 12-15.

The Indian players now move to Hertogenbosch to play the $75,000 three-star Holland Plaza Dutch Open, from October 17 and 22.
